Analog Tea
Analog is a chain of coffee destinations based in Calgary, Alberta fuelled by their own proprietary bean to cup process. 17th Avenue's Analog Coffee has been proclaimed one of the best coffee shops in the world by viral juggernaut BuzzFeed.
After much success in the coffee industry they set out to apply that same level of success to a line up of teas. They approached me to help visualize a vibrant and urban expression of teas that they had carefully sourced from around the world. Inspired from their existing brand, I inset their recognizable brand elements into a hand drawn ornamental backdrop. Below is the outcome of a very collaborative process with a client who is obsessed with the details. Together we created something that was sure to stand out on the shelf.
To start the process we explored various aesthetics with the help of a mood board that I created helping facilitate a discussion around what visual tone to give their product line. We explored package styles both inside and outside of the tea industry and discussed what aspects of their brand ethos we’d like to lean into through this exercise.
Through product benchmarking we narrowed in on an ornamental style that would help set the tone for how we would eventually treat our tea labels. We explored everything from Scandinavian style artwork, to more modern, urban/street style treatments.
Through more visual benchmarking, we further narrowed in on a more hand crafted version of ornamental features that would end up being the backdrop for our tea labels.
